While it’s clear this camera doesn’t compete directly with the firm’s DSLRs, how does it stack up against the competition that don’t have the same volume of DSLR sales to protect?

Nikon 1 V2 review: Evolution, stasis or regression?

Launched in October 2012, the Nikon 1 V2 is a not unexpected update to the Nikon 1 V1, which debuted in September 2011. The Nikon 1 Series cameras are hybrid cameras with interchangeable lenses. In the case of the V1 and V2, they fall at the upper end of the segment, offering more features and a higher performance level than their more consumer oriented brethren, the Nikon 1 J1 and J2.

BSI sensors?

That can't be right. I've never heard of Sony using BSI image sensors. They only appear in some compacts and mobile phone cameras like the iPhone. BSI APS-C? that has to be an error. As for Canon, it looks like more of the same, stuck in the same place for the past 5-6 years, their APS-C sensors need a major overhaul. It's sad that a used Sony NEX C3 has an image sensor that beats the one in a Canon 7D.

Sony actually uses BSI sensor but only on its last Cybershot line cameras.
