There are new additions to the DxOMark Samyang lens database with these two 14mm lenses.
See the whole measurements with the Canon mount: Samyang 14mm F2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical, Canon, the Nikon mount tests are available too.
Once again Samyang provides us with a wide angle prime with an attractive set of features for a very competitive price.
The resolution is one of their best features: the two mounts provide homogeneous and sharp images in the field even at wide aperture. (see the comparison below for more information)
Distortion on the other hand is a bit high on this wide angle lens (1.6 %, to have a good idea of what this brings to your pictures, take a look at the distortion measurements grid section).
On the other hand vignetting remains well under control.
You can find the comparison between the 2 mounts here: Samyang 14mm Nikon vs Samyang 14 mm Canon.
As expected these two lenses are very close, though the Nikon mount resolved better (on a Nikon D3x), its chromatic aberration is a tad stronger.
Another interesting comparison: the Samyang 14mm Nikon mounted on a Nikon D7000 vs a Samyang 14 mm Canon mounted on a Canon EOS 7D. (please, remember to select the right camera body on the drop-down menu).
Here the resolution is much higher on the Nikon D7000 which increases the gap on the DxOMark score between the two system couplings.
Samyang 14mm F2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical Nikon vs Carl Zeiss Distagon T 18mm f/3.5 ZF2 Nikon, both mounted on a Nikon D3x, (please, remember to change the camera body on the drop-down menu).
Samyang 14mm F2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical Canon vs Carl Zeiss Distagon T 18mm f/3.5 ZE Canon, both mounted on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II (please, remember to change the camera body on the drop-down menu).
Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical Canon vs Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, both mounted on a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III (please, remember to change the camera body on the drop-down menu).
Samyang 14mm F2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical Nikon vs Nikkor AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED, both mounted on a Nikon D7000 (please, remember to change the camera body on the drop-down menu).
