Tamron’s three new super zooms, for the Micro Four Thirds, Canon EOS M and Canon, Nikon & Sony full frame lens mounts, all offer an equivalent focal length of around 28-300mm.

Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD Specification: Third-party full frame super zoom for Canon, Nikon and Sony

Designed with a sophisticated external finish, the new Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Di VC PZD boast a linear patterned rubber grip on its zoom and focus rings. The plastic casing is also the more fined mottled variety, which is splash proof, and the compact design utilises a 67mm filter thread. Optical construction sees 19 elements in 15 groups, with anti-glare coatings added to help minimise flare and ghosting. The Nikon and Canon mount offers Tamron’s Vibration Compensation (VC) system, to reduce camera shake, although this isn’t a feature of the Sony version. Tamron’s PZD, or ‘Piezo Drive’, autofocus motor offers quick and quite autofocus and a full time manual focus ring is a bonus for those wanting to quickly changing between Auto and Manual focus modes. Nikon & Canon mount versions of the new Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Di VC PZD will be available in US from June 26th costing $849, with the Sony mount expected to be available in the near future.

Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III VC Specification: First third party lens announced for the Canon EOS M system

It’s fair to say there isn’t a gluttony of lenses for the Canon EOS M system, so the announcement of two new telephoto lenses in quick succession is welcome news. Following the release of Canon’s first EF-M mount telephoto lens, the EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM, the new Tamron EF-M 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III VC offers greater reach at the wide end of the zoom, with a 29-320mm equivalent focal range. The new lens features Tamron’s Vibration Compensation (VC) system, as well as a stepping autofocus motor for quick and quiet autofocus, and is available from June 26th for $499.

Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 Di III Specification: Micro Four Thirds

The new Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 Di III offers an equivalent 28-300mm focal length in a compact design. Featuring a stepper autofocus motor for silent AF during video capture, the metal barrel lens is available in black or silver, to suit the most popular Micro Four Thirds cameras from Olympus and Panasonic. Without the added benefit of Tamron’s Vibration Compensation (VC) system however, the Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 Di III is better suited for use on Olympus cameras, which utilise a sensor based image stabilisation solution. The Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 Di III is available in the US from June 26th and costs $569.
