Today, Sony announced the SLT Alpha 57. This new model replaces the one and a half years old SLT A55 translucent mirror DSLR. comes with some interesting improvements in particular for its continuous shooting and auto focus.
The A57 upgrades its body with a build quality closer to the SLT A65 but still features a 16MP sensor and LCD viewfinder. The specifications of the A57 announced by Sony show an improved highest ISO setting at 16 000 and a continuous shooting rate increased from 10 fps to 12. The auto-focus of the A57 was also taken care of with 15 focus points and an enhanced object-tracking system. On the video side, the Alpha 57 can record 1920 x 1080 videos at 60p, 60i and 24/25p.
The A57 will launch at $699 for the body alone and $799 with an 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens.
