Apart from a smaller screen, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max share the same specs, including the same A16 Bionic processor. We tested the iPhone 14 Pro display, and as expected, the results were overall the same as those for iPhone14 Pro Max.

Only very slight differences between the two models were seen in readability, where the iPhone 14 Pro’s screen was slightly darker in indoor conditions. For all other attributes, the two iPhone 14 models performed identically.

Pros

  • Boosted outdoor performance, thanks to impressive brightness (measured at over 2000 nits) that improves readability and color rendering
  • HDR shows fine contrast tuning, close to the artistic intent, and indoor brightness (over 1000 nits) is suitable for enjoying HDR content
  • Almost no frame drops are visible when playing videos or when gaming

Cons

  • Viewed on angle, the color cast shifts to green, which affects skin-tone rendering
  • Slightly low brightness indoors
  • Some imprecise lighting transitions while watching video content
