Samsung, which released its flagship S22 series in February, is known for keeping the audio specs the same across its flagship models. The release of the Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) series is no different.
Like on the Galaxy S22 Ultra (Exynos), the Samsung Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) has two speakers producing “surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology.” Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus are included. As for recording, S22+ (Exynos) has Zoom-in MIC (Audio zoom), which Samsung describes as “an audio recording function that focuses on the direction of interest using a combination of 3 built-in MICs while video recording.”
We put the Samsung Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) through our rigorous DXOMARK Audio test suite to measure its performance both at recording sound using its built-in microphones, and at playing audio back through its speakers. In this review, we will break down how it fared in a variety of tests and several common use cases.
Key audio specifications include:
- Two speakers: Top front, bottom side-firing
- Dolby Atmos tuning
- Enhanced Bluetooth connection
- No jack
About DXOMARK Audio tests: For scoring and analysis in our smartphone audio reviews, DXOMARK engineers perform a variety of objective tests and undertake more than 20 hours of perceptual evaluation under controlled lab conditions. This article highlights the most important results of our testing. Note that we evaluate both Playback and Recording using only the device’s built-in hardware and default apps.

Pros
- Excellent tonal balance and envelope in electronic concert
- Very good overall dynamics performance in most of the use cases
- Mostly free of artifacts
The DXOMARK Audio overall score of 72 for the Samsung Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) is derived from its Playback and Recording scores and their respective sub-scores.
While the overall score of the Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) is a point higher than the S22 Ultra (Exynos), and the S22 (Exynos), the performance of the S22+ gained some points in the recording subscore over the Ultra, particularly in timbre, mainly because of a better performance when recording loud environments such as an electronic concert.
In playback, the S22+ (Exynos) matched the performance of the S22 Ultra (Exynos) in timbre, spatial and volume, mainly because of the Ultra’s better wideness performance and low-end extension. The S22+ (Exynos) also gained a couple of points over the Ultra version in artifacts.
Since the devices have the same audio specifications and most of the scores are so close and within our margin of error, we direct you to the S22 Ultra (Exynos) Audio test results for the full details on the audio performance of the Galaxy S22+ (Exynos).
